The Opportunity

This is a rewarding opportunity to play an active role in shaping children’s wellbeing through the preparation of fresh, nutritious meals.

In this role, you will:

• Plan and prepare balanced, healthy meals for children of all ages
• Contribute to menu development, ensuring nutritional value and variety
• Manage kitchen operations including ordering, stock control, and budgeting
• Work within a supportive network of centre cooks who share ideas, recipes, and best practices
• Utilise the Feed Australia Program, a national tool that supports menu planning, budgeting, and nutritional outcomes
• Engage with children and families to promote healthy eating habits

About You

You are a reliable and organised cook who takes pride in preparing high-quality meals and maintaining a safe, compliant kitchen.

You will bring:

• Experience preparing meals in bulk
• Strong knowledge of nutrition and menu planning for children
• Confidence managing inventory, ordering, and kitchen budgets
• A commitment to food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards
• The ability to cater for allergies, dietary requirements, and individual needs
• A passion for educating children about healthy food and participating in centre activities

Essential Requirements

• Food Safety & Handling Certificate (Health & Community)
• Previous experience in a similar role (early childhood experience highly regarded)
• Valid First Aid Certificate (including Asthma and Anaphylaxis) and CPR
• Reliable transport

Desirable:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
