The Position 

At Trinity Grammar School, Kew, our students are at the centre of everything we do, our teachers are instrumental in the success of our boys both during their school experience and beyond.

We are seeking an experienced and high-quality teacher of Guitar to join our music team from Term 3, 2026. This itinerant position currently involves instrumental tuition of approximately 3 full days per week, with the opportunity for that to grow, as well as directing our guitar ensemble and Rock band, each rehearsing 30-40minutes per week. The successful applicant will be able to support students across all levels, from beginners through to advanced players, adapting teaching approaches to suit individual learning needs and styles.

The ability to demonstrate basic recording and music production skills to support ensemble projects and performance preparation where required is desired, including creating and editing backing tracks to support recital performances, assessments, and student development.

Applicants should possess the ability to teach a broad range of musical styles, with particular strength in jazz performance and pedagogy to support the school's jazz program. This includes demonstrating strong reading skills as well as a thorough understanding of jazz improvisation, ensemble playing, and the role of the guitar within a big band and jazz combo setting.

You must have a current Employee Working with Children Check.  A VIT registered teacher is preferred, but not essential.
