Our Team

The successful applicant will join a dedicated team of Student Counsellors supported by the Director of Student Care and College Psychologist, ensuring a strong professional network and guidance.  Each of our well-resourced schools have a comprehensive pastoral care team and Student Counsellors work closely with Heads of School, Pastoral Care Leaders and Youth Worker at their school site.

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to support students from Early Years through to Year 12, with a likely focus in the Senior School. Experience or interest in SACE students will be highly regarded.

Our Student Counsellors provide a vital support to students, assisting them to understand and navigate social and emotional challenges that may impact their learning.  This role requires a collaborative approach, building strong relationships and connections with students, staff, families and external service providers, and contributing to a cohesive, proactive pastoral care framework.

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and eligibility for registration as a Psychologist with APS and/or membership of PACFA, ACA or AASW
• Excellent counselling knowledge and skills preferably minimum 2 years experience
• Ability to relate and work with young children and adolescents
• Ability to recognise, assess and respond to risk of harm
• Knowledge of relevant support agencies
• Clear and well established understanding of contemporary issues facing children and young adults
• A strong commitment to Christian education
• Excellent administration skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people both verbally and in writing
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and ethics to work respectfully across diversity
