We are a small, family-oriented private company, proud of our long history in early learning. Extending beyond 30 years, we focus on embedding a culture of collaborative professional learning and on developing strong partnerships with the local community, including local schools, allied health professionals, and registered professional training organisations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking to fill Lead Educator roles at our beautiful, purpose-built 120-place Long Day Care Centre in Templestowe. Our Centre has been newly refurbished and features an array of high-quality educational resources. Our Director is passionate and experienced in mentoring incoming candidates to help them settle in and transition smoothly into their roles. We are a small, close-knit team that works well together to support the implementation of the educational program. We are happy to negotiate with the incoming Lead Educator to secure a role that aligns with their experience and interests.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

As a leader at our Centre, you will support the Director by performing a range of duties. Some of these include:

  • Ensuring that in all performed duties, promoting child safety is the highest priority

  • Undertaking tasks to support the Centre operationally and maintain viability

  • Completing compliance duties to ensure that practices are always of high quality

  • Participating in the Quality Improvement Framework, ensuring that you contribute to the QIP by documenting evidence reflecting standards

  • When required, completing rosters and effectively managing staffing arrangements

  • Participating in our Community Engagement Program to build relationships with the local community

  • Contributing to our Communities of Practice Professional Learning Program by reflecting on improvement goals and reporting on progress in exceeding practice

  • Engaging in critical reflective practice and documenting leadership decisions

  • Working collaboratively with your Director and Portfolio Leader and acting on directives to make service improvements

  • Supporting the planning and implementation of the daily learning programs for children, ensuring that documentation is up to date and reflected on our digital platforms

  • Engage in daily administrative duties, ensuring that practices, policies and systems are maintained at

  • Reflecting on your performance and participating in probationary processes

As an Educator, you will be performing numerous duties as part of your role, not limited to those listed below:

  • Completing Child Safety Training (GECCKO)

  • Participating in our Community Engagement Program to build relationships with the local community

  • Supporting the planning and implementation of the daily learning programs for children

  • Engaging in documented critical reflection, goal setting and contributing to the QIP

  • Participating in and contributing to our Communities of Practice Professional Learning Program

  • Engage in daily administrative duties, ensuring that practices, policies and systems are maintained at all times

  • Reflecting on your performance and participating in probationary processes

TO JOIN OUR TEAM, YOU FIRST NEED TO MEET OUR ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Completed childcare qualifications such as a Diploma in Children's Services or an Early Childhood Degree.

  • Graduate Diploma qualified applicants must have at least 3 years of experience working directly with children in an Australian Early Learning Centre

  • Completed Child Protection, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Senior First Aid and Red Nose training

  • All required training certifications, including Child Protection, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Senior First Aid and Red Nose training, must be current at the time of application

  • Understand Child Safe Standards, Curriculum Frameworks and National Quality Standards

  • Demonstrated leadership characteristics to support a dynamic staffing team effectively

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience in early childhood education is required for these senior positions

  • Demonstrated evidence in understanding curriculum frameworks, and the ability to mentor Educator practice

  • Experience in managing relationships in and outside of the Centre

  • Be solution-driven, positive and able to work with people from various backgrounds and learning levels

  • Demonstrate positivity and have excellent social skills

  • Have excellent spoken and written English capability

  • Be professionally presented at all times and be willing to abide by our uniform policy

  • Be reliable and can work independently

  • Have a current Working with Children Check (not volunteer) and National Police Check

  • Be willing to complete a Prohibited Employment Declaration Form

  • Be willing to attend an in-person interview and provide up-to-date reference check details relevant to the role

  • Be forthcoming with details of childcare relevant referees to complete accurate reference checks as part of the recruitment process
