ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking to fill the role of an Educational Leader at our beautiful, purpose-built 120-place Long Day Care Centre in Chadstone. Our Centre is very established with long-standing team members who have built reciprocal relationships with families in the local community. Our Centre Director is highly passionate and has the skills and temperament to support any incoming candidate in settling in and transitioning smoothly into their role. We are looking to support our current leaders in mentoring the educational program, which means the incoming candidate will be very well supported while working in a collaborative team.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Educational Leader, you will play a pivotal role in driving excellence in teaching and learning across the service. You will mentor, guide and inspire Educators to deliver high-quality, reflective practice that supports positive outcomes for children. Tasks relevant to the role include the following.
Lead, in collaboration with the current leadership team, the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the educational program in line with the EYLF and NQS (Quality Area 1), with focus on the 3 to 5 year age group.
Support Educators to plan, document and assess children’s learning through meaningful observations and intentional teaching.
Model best practice in pedagogy, inclusive education and play-based learning.
Promote a culture of critical reflection and continuous improvement.
Mentor and coach educators to strengthen professional practice and confidence.
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to support individual and team growth.
Lead staff discussions, reflective practice sessions and professional learning opportunities.
Support educators in meeting compliance, documentation, and assessment requirements.
Ensure that Educators use the funding criteria and associated recommended tools for prior-to-school programs, and that these programs are educationally sound.
Encourage Educators to reflect on their use of digital platforms and ensure they always represent children respectfully and as capable.
Contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and support service readiness for assessment and rating.
Ensure educational practices align with the National Quality Standard, particularly Quality Area 1.
Stay informed of current research, legislation and sector best practice
Work collaboratively with the Nominated Supervisor, the Centre Director, and the leadership team.
Build respectful, professional relationships with families and external professionals.
Support family engagement in children’s learning and development.
Advocate for children’s rights, wellbeing, inclusion and voice.
Ensure programs are responsive to children’s interests, strengths and cultural identities.
Promote safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environments in line with the Child Safe Standards.
Participating in our Community Engagement Program to build relationships with the local community.
Contributing to our Communities of Practice Professional Learning Program by reflecting on improvement goals and reporting on progress in exceeding practice.
Engaging in critical reflective practice and documenting leadership decisions
Working collaboratively with your 2IC, Director and Portfolio Leader and acting on directives to make service improvements.
Engage in daily administrative duties, ensuring that practices, policies and systems are always maintained.
Reflecting on your performance and participating in probationary processes, which include Appraisals, SMART Goals, and strategy setting and demonstrated improvement.

TO JOIN OUR TEAM, YOU FIRST NEED TO MEET OUR ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Completed childcare qualifications such as a Diploma in Children’s Services or an Early Childhood Degree.
Graduate Diploma qualified applicants must have at least 3 years of experience working directly with children in an Australian Early Learning Centre.
Completed Child Protection, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Senior First Aid and Red Nose training
Understand Child Safe Standards, Curriculum Frameworks and National Quality Standards
Demonstrated leadership characteristics to support a dynamic staffing team effectively. Previous Educational Leader experience
Demonstrated evidence in understanding curriculum frameworks, and the ability to mentor Educator practice
Experience in managing relationships in and outside of the Centre
Be solution-driven, positive and able to work with people from various backgrounds and learning levels
Demonstrate positivity and have excellent social skills
Have excellent spoken and written English capability
Be professionally presented at all times and be willing to abide by our uniform policy
Be reliable and can work independently
Have a current Working with Children Check (not volunteer)
