Telling Your Stories Australia is seeking an experienced educator, relationship-builder, and confident communicator to help grow a meaningful storytelling project across Australia.

The successful applicant will play a key role in helping Australian schools, early childhood services, and communities tell stories that strengthen identity, belonging, cultural understanding, literacy, reconciliation, and connection to place.

About Telling Your Stories Australia

Telling Your Stories Australia is a place-based storytelling project that works with schools, early childhood services, and communities to create meaningful, culturally responsive stories that reflect local identity, history, values, people, culture, and place.

Each story is developed in partnership with the school or service community and supported by a specialist story writing team. The project helps education settings celebrate who they are, deepen connection to place, strengthen literacy and belonging, and engage respectfully with local histories and community knowledge.

The role will work closely with the New Zealand-based Telling Your Stories / Coactive Education team.

About the Role

The Education Partnerships Lead will be responsible for growing Telling Your Stories Australia by building relationships with schools, early childhood services, community groups, and education networks.

This is both a relationship-focused and growth-focused role. You will follow up and convert leads, meet with schools and communities, gather information and themes for the story writing team, promote the project across the education sector, and represent Telling Your Stories Australia at conferences and events.

The role would suit someone who is comfortable working independently, confident having conversations with education leaders, and motivated by clear conversion targets as part of their key performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Follow up warm and prospective leads with schools, early childhood services, and community groups

• Meet with school leaders, early childhood leaders, teachers, educators, and community representatives

• Present the project clearly and confidently to prospective partners

• Convert interested schools and services into confirmed project partners

• Gather local stories, values, histories, themes, and aspirations to support the story writing team

• Listen carefully to school leaders, educators, students, children, families, and community voices

• Build strong and respectful relationships with schools, services, communities, and sector partners

• Network across the Australian education sector

• Attend education conferences and events, including running trade stands

• Promote the project with community groups, education networks, and professional associations

• Work closely with the New Zealand team to ensure a high-quality project experience

• Maintain clear records of leads, meetings, conversations, opportunities, and progress

• Work toward agreed conversion targets as a key performance indicator

About You

We are looking for someone who is warm, professional, highly relational, and culturally responsive. You will be a skilled listener who can hear what matters most to people, places, histories, and communities.

You will bring a strong education background and be confident working across early childhood, primary, and secondary settings. You will understand Australian education and be comfortable engaging with independent, state, and Catholic schools, as well as a range of educational philosophies and curriculum approaches.

You will be passionate about history and able to engage honestly with complex histories, challenge false or incomplete narratives, and support more inclusive storytelling.

You will also be self-motivated, organised, proactive, and confident working independently while remaining closely connected to a remote team.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have a background in education, teaching, school leadership, curriculum, early childhood education, or education consultancy

• Have strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and confidence applying this understanding across different education settings

• Have knowledge of, or willingness to engage with, a range of curriculum frameworks, including the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge curriculum, and other school-based or sector-specific approaches

• Be confident working across early childhood education, primary, and secondary school settings

• Be comfortable engaging with independent, state, and Catholic schools, and able to work respectfully within a range of educational philosophies, values, and school communities

• Have a high level of digital literacy and confidence using digital tools to communicate, organise information, record leads, and work collaboratively with a remote team

• Have their own reliable transport

• Be able and willing to travel across Australia as required

• Be available to work 20 hours per week, during school hours

• Be comfortable with conversion targets as a key performance indicator

• Be able to attend conferences, trade stands, school meetings, service visits, and community events

• Have strong knowledge of Australian history and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and perspectives

• Be a strong advocate for the organisation’s Narragunnawali Reconciliation Action Plan, and be committed to supporting reconciliation through respectful, culturally responsive practice

Remuneration

This position offers a base salary of AUD $50,000–$65,000 per annum for 20 hours per week, depending on qualifications and experience, plus 3% commission on confirmed project conversions, subject to agreed commission terms and conditions.
