An exciting opportunity exists to join the Student Support Branch, Behaviour team as a Principal Advisor, Student Behaviour.
This is a temporary full-time position until 23 July 2027, unless otherwise determined, located in Central Office, Brisbane.

About the Role:

In this role, you will lead and coordinate strategic and operational activities that support student behaviour, school discipline, and emerging priorities across Queensland state schools. Working collaboratively across the department, you will provide project management, governance, and operational oversight to support the effective delivery of key initiatives and services.

The successful applicant will coordinate project planning and delivery, workforce management, financial administration, procurement, reporting, and governance activities. You will also contribute to research and analysis, policy and procedure development, and the implementation of initiatives that strengthen student behaviour practices and outcomes across Queensland state schools.

Responsibilities Include:

• Support the delivery of key projects, activities and services within the unit.
• Provide strategic direction in the development of project plans, including risk management strategies and key performance measures.
• Provide oversight, support and guidance for specific projects and initiative development from concept to delivery stages, including data analysis, reporting and budget management.
• Provide information, prepare complex reports, submissions, briefs, memoranda and correspondence relating to sensitive relevant state school issues as they relate to student behaviour.
• Contribute to setting the strategic direction for the branch and ensuring the effectiveness of policies, standards and procedures.
• Establish effective internal and external networks and liaise, communicate and coordinate with key stakeholders to achieve required outcomes.
• Ensure the optimal use of human and financial resources to achieve agreed goals, oversee budget management, where applicable, and manage reporting requirements.
• Provide strategic advice to the senior executive team to inform quality, accountable and transparent decision making.
• Undertake other suitable duties, consistent with the responsibilities and classification of the position, as directed by the supervisor or delegate to support the achievement of divisional objectives.

The Principal Advisor, Student Behaviour reports to the Director, Student Behaviour, State Schools Strategy, Department of Education, or nominated delegate.
