The Response and Recovery Team is a collaborative team working to support the development and implementation of recovery strategies for school leaders, education workforces, students and families. This time limited program is specifically to support schools impacted by the Bondi terrorist attack across Southeastern Sydney, NSW and nationally.

Maximum term contract to 30 June 2027.

what you'll do

Working in this role, you will:

• Assist in the development, coordination, planning and implementation of program activities including training and capacity building strategies.
• Facilitation of webinars and workshops.

Some workshops will be between the hours of 5pm-9pm Monday to Friday.

• Undertake analysis of schools to identify needs, opportunities and stakeholder relationships that will drive the recovery program.
• Work to strengthen the impacted community.
• Work with key stakeholders to promote information sharing and coordination of activities and local action plans.
• Enhance community capacity with recovery building mental health literacy and help seeking skills.

In this role, you may engage with young people and families navigating complex mental health and wellbeing concerns, including distressing or sensitive situations. We are committed to supporting our staff through supervision and reflective practice and encourage applicants to consider how this work may impact them personally.

what you'll bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A tertiary qualification in education (including qualification in adult education), public health promotion, community development and/or mental health.
• Experience in influencing change and working in collaborative partnerships with school leadership teams and/or education authorities, local community agencies and other stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of the common social and mental health challenges faced by young people and experienced by school communities, including suicide postvention, suicide, self-harm and trauma.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Highly developed communication skills.
• Strong organisation and project management skills.
