Purpose of the Role

To plan, deliver, assess, and evaluate high-quality Qur'anic and Arabic Studies programs that inspire students to develop a strong understanding of Islam, Qur'an, Arabic language skills, and Islamic values while supporting their overall educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning
  • Plan and deliver engaging Qur'anic and Arabic Studies lessons appropriate to students' age and ability levels.

  • Teach Qur'an recitation (Tajweed), memorisation (where applicable), Islamic values, and Arabic language skills.

  • Differentiate teaching practices to meet diverse student learning needs.

  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress.

  • Maintain accurate assessment and attendance records.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Student Wellbeing
  • Promote positive behaviour and Islamic character development.

  • Build respectful and professional relationships with students.

  • Support student wellbeing and pastoral care initiatives.

  • Uphold the College's Child Safe Environment policies and procedures.

Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, leadership, and families.

  • Maintain compliance with all legislative and professional obligations.

  • Contribute positively to the Islamic ethos and culture of the College.

Essential Selection Criteria

  • Current registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia (TRB SA).

  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

  • Current RRHAN-EC Certificate.

  • Current First Aid Certificate.

  • Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in Qur'anic Studies, Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, Education, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a classroom and engage students in learning.

  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Commitment to child safety and professional conduct.

  • Eligibility to work in Australia.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience teaching Qur'anic and Arabic Studies in an Australian school setting.

  • Knowledge of the Australian educational context and curriculum requirements.

  • Experience using educational technology to enhance learning.

  • Ability to contribute to extracurricular, wellbeing, or faith-based programs.
