When a child in Western Australia needs specialist medical treatment, all roads lead to Perth. We believe no family should have to deal with their child's medical journey alone.

For over 30 years, Ronald McDonald House has helped Western Australian families with sick kids stay together, and close to the medical care they need. We are an independent not‑for‑profit, part of a global network of 360+ Houses supporting children and families through their medical journey, helping them focus on what matters most—each other.

The Role

One of the services facilitated by Ronald McDonald House Australia, the Ronald McDonald Learning Program provides one-to-one tuition to children living with serious chronic illnesses.

Students accessing the program are returning/have returned to school, and need some additional support to help catch up on missed learning. 40 hours of one-on-one tutoring is provided to not only help them catch up academically, but to help rebuild their confidence and improve general wellbeing.

Although we are not able to guarantee when we will have a student for you, we strive to have a register of tutors across all areas of WA (metro and regional), so when a referral does come through for a student in a particular area, we have a tutor nearby ready to help! Our program caters for children from K-12, so tutors specialising from ECE to ATAR level are welcome to apply.

The majority of our tutors use the program as a supplement to part time, relief or full time teaching. Tutors are required to have a current WWCC, TRBWA registration (or are a pre-service teacher), and an ABN. Tutors are also required to submit a National Criminal History Check.

Tutors with a TRBWA number are contracted and paid $60 per hour, while pre-service teachers are paid $45 per hour for their sessions with students. Lessons can be undertaken on-site at school, outside of school hours at a local public library, or online using our RMLP Zoom Education platform.
