The Student Communications Officer provides assistance with outbound current student communications for the University. 

About the Position
As the Student Communications Officer, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and administrative support to internal and external customers. 

The Student Communications Officer will thrive in a highly regulated, customer-service environment, organising their work with a distributed group of stakeholders to meet the deadlines associated with student and academic administration. They will work closely with colleagues across the University, including the Marketing, Media and Communications team, ensuring smooth end-to-end processes for student communications and producing consistent outcomes across sectors, colleges and campus locations.

This is a 12-month backfill contract only until April 2027.

About You
To be successful, you will require:

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of Year 12 and/or Certificate IV in a nationally accredited qualification.
  • Written communication skills, with the ability to respond to enquiries in writing and liaise with other teams across the University on sometimes complex cases
  • High level verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex processes or regulations, to provide clear information to customers and to communicate effectively and constructively with staff
  • Experience working in a team (in the vocational or higher education sector preferred), including collaborating to achieve shared goals
  • An outstanding commitment to customer-service for internal and external customers, delivering exceptional customer outcomes
  • Commitment to the University’s values
    Additional competencies for Level 5
  • Completion of a Degree without subsequent work experience/completion of an Advanced Diploma Qualification and at least one (1) years’ experience/completion of a Diploma qualification and at least two (2) years’ experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education or training.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement of processes and practices and actively providing mentoring and training to colleagues.
  • Track record in delivering best practice customer outcomes against a schedule of deadlines, with personal drive and self-motivation.
  • Advanced level of technical proficiency in administrative systems and platforms, including the use of large corporate databases, Office 365 specifically SharePoint.

Desirable competencies

  • Proven experience and knowledge of the regulatory requirements for the operation of a student communications team in a dual sector University environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more aspects of communications, including managing channels and creating copy.
  • Ability to adapt message and tone to target audiences and edit the work of others, operating within specified CDU branding guidelines. 

Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory National Criminal History check and a valid NT Working with Children clearance

Remuneration 
Appointment to this role will be at Professional Employee Level 4/5. The base salary will be in the range of $70,037 - $87,716 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $81,943 - $102,627 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
