About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Plumbing, Electrical and High-Risk Trades, the Education Manager Electrical provides operational leadership and strategic direction for Melbourne Polytechnic's Electrical programs. You will lead a team of educators, oversee program delivery and compliance, support continuous improvement initiatives, and build strong industry partnerships that enhance student outcomes and business growth.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrical industry professional and educational leader to influence the next generation of skilled tradespeople while driving excellence across teaching, learning and program performance.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach and mentor Electrical teaching staff to deliver high-quality vocational education programs

• Manage program planning, timetabling, staffing, workload allocation and operational performance

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance student outcomes and teaching quality

• Oversee recruitment, induction, development and performance management of teaching staff

• Monitor program budgets and resource utilisation to support operational and financial sustainability

• Ensure compliance with VET regulatory requirements, training package standards and Melbourne Polytechnic policies

• Manage student and staff matters, including grievances, wellbeing concerns and academic progress

• Lead validation, moderation and course review activities to maintain quality learning outcomes

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with industry, employers, community organisations and key stakeholders

• Identify opportunities for program growth, innovation and industry engagement that strengthen Melbourne Polytechnic's reputation and market position

What You'll Bring

Essential

• Extensive industry experience within the electrical sector, including specialist expertise relevant to Electrical programs

• Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing educational programs within a vocational education environment

• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop staff

• Proven ability to plan, implement and evaluate high-quality teaching and learning initiatives

• Sound understanding of VET quality frameworks, compliance requirements and regulatory standards

• Strong organisational, financial and operational management capabilities

• Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills

• Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and student-centred outcomes

Desirable

• Knowledge of current and emerging trends in vocational education and training

• Experience managing industry partnerships and collaborative training initiatives

• Experience delivering or overseeing online and blended learning programs

Qualifications & Mandatory Checks

Appointment to this position is subject to meeting the qualification requirements (where applicable) and the successful completion of all mandatory employment checks.

Teaching Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the qualification requirements under the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement 2024 and relevant regulatory standards.

You will have:

• Relevant qualifications in your discipline area

• Recent and relevant industry and/or teaching experience

In addition, depending on the role:

• Vocational Education and Training (VET) roles:

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent), or a diploma or higher qualification in adult or vocational education

• Non-Vocational Education roles (e.g. EAL, AMEP, SEE, Foundation, VCE):
  A recognised teaching qualification appropriate to the program (e.g. postgraduate TESOL or equivalent), and demonstrated teaching capability through relevant experience

Applicants who can demonstrate equivalent teaching capability through a combination of qualifications and experience may also be considered.

Mandatory Checks

• A valid Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee)

• A National Police Check
