St Mary's Catholic Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate Health and Physical Education (HPE) Teacher to join our team. The Position:

This role reports to the Deputy Principal. Teachers at St Mary’s apply their professional knowledge and skills to ensure that students receive a high-quality Catholic education grounded in faith and excellence.

The HPE Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing a high-quality Health and Physical Education program that engages students and supports their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development.

At St Mary's, pastoral care and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking a teacher who is deeply committed to nurturing the whole child and who understands that positive relationships are the foundation for successful learning. The successful applicant will be reliable, child-centred, and skilled in implementing contemporary Positive Behaviour for Learning practices that support student engagement, wellbeing, and success.

The successful applicant will also lead the school's sporting program, including the coordination of athletics carnivals, swimming carnivals, gala days, and inter-school sporting events, fostering participation, teamwork, and school spirit.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging HPE lessons aligned with the Australian Curriculum and school priorities

  • Create inclusive learning experiences that support students of varying abilities and backgrounds

  • Promote positive participation, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate assessment and reporting records

  • Organise and coordinate school sporting events, including athletics carnivals, swimming carnivals, and gala days

  • Liaise with external sporting organisations and coordinate student participation in gala days, inter-school competitions, and City Cluster sporting events

  • Coordinate school teams and representative squads for gala days and inter-school sporting opportunities

  • Maintain and manage sporting equipment and resources

  • Implement positive behaviour support strategies aligned with school expectations

  • Collaborate with staff and communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and wellbeing

  • Participate actively in staff meetings, professional learning, and school community events
