Early Childhood Educator – Full time Diploma (and casuals required)

Family Tree Learning Centre located at Bateau Bay, is a family owned and operated EXCEEDING centre and we have been operating since 2009. Our 59 place centre caters for children aged 2-6 years and operates 8am-5pm 50 weeks of the year.

We have 3 separate well resourced playrooms with one being dedicated for the transition to school (4-5 years) and a combined playground backing onto a beautiful nature reserve with a cooling ocean breeze.

We proudly are dedicated to providing a nurturing, safe and educationally stimulating environment for the children. Our centre is part of a local neighbourhood, with a cooling sea breeze and bushland behind us. We have the convenience of a bus stop at our door, a small local shopping centre and community park spaces close by.   

We are currently seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and professional Educator who has a dedicated approach and strong commitment to Early Childhood education to join our team of educators and management in a permanent role 5 days per week. 

You will possess excellent communication skills, a good work ethic and the ability to work as part of a happy team to contribute to all aspects of the service.

You will join a team of dedicated educators to create a stimulating, positive and inclusive environment that reflects the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLFv2.0) whilst maintaining the elements of the National Quality Standards and a high quality, play based learning philosophy. This curriculum is interest based and child focused and views children as being independent, competent, capable and unique learners who have control of their own learning and environment.

Duties & responsibilities

Support the Educational Program – Play a key role in observing, planning, and implementing engaging learning experiences that foster children’s growth and development.

Build Strong Relationships – Cultivate trusting and respectful connections with children, families, and colleagues to create a positive, collaborative environment.

Be a Team Player – Demonstrate proactive teamwork, set high personal and team standards, and contribute to a positive and uplifting team spirit to enhance overall service performance.

Skills & requirements

Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care (those currently working towards their Diploma are welcome to apply). (recognised by ACECQA)

Current First Aid and Asthma & Anaphylaxis certification/CPR (recognised by ACECQA)

Completed child safety foundations course (Mandatory)

Completed an approved child protection course (recognised by ACECQA)

Valid Working with Children Check.

Food Handling Certificate.

A thorough understanding of and ability to deliver requirements under the National Quality Standards (NQS) and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF V2.0); Child Protection & Mandatory Reporting; Workplace Health & Safety issues.

Flexibility to work across all shifts, age groups and collaborate effectively as part of a productive team.

A commitment to your own ongoing professional development in early childhood 

Excellent teamwork and communication skills; show initiative and a capacity to work with minimal supervision; well developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise work tasks, seek guidance when required, but work with minimal supervision

Demonstrated knowledge and experience of current early childhood theories and practice & children’s services legislation 

Two relevant and recent teaching references/ referee contact details (Supervisor or higher level)
