Join the leadership team at Dunwich State School as Head of Department (Student Services) in a temporary part-time (0.6 FTE) opportunity available from 13 July 2026 to 11 December 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Working within the Wellbeing Team and guided by the school's Student Wellbeing Framework, you will lead case management, attendance, engagement, tiered student support and the implementation of consistent school-wide practices.

This role suits an experienced educator with demonstrated capability in improving educational and wellbeing outcomes for students through proactive support, collaboration and effective leadership.

The successful applicant will bring strong cultural competency and an understanding of working alongside First Nations students, families and communities to support student success and wellbeing.

This is a temporary part-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Our School

Dunwich State School is the only school on Minjerribah / Terrangerri (North Stradbroke Island), located approximately 30km off the east coast of Brisbane within Metropolitan South Region.

The school serves students and families from the island communities of Dunwich, Point Lookout and Amity Point, as well as smaller communities across the island. These communities each contribute to the diversity of the school and bring distinct perspectives and experiences to school life.

Minjerribah / Terrangerri is home to the Quandamooka people, comprising the Nughi, Nunukul and Gorenpul clans, and has a strong First Nations culture and history. Many local families have a long association with the school, with some families now seeing fifth and sixth generations attend.

Catering for students from Prep to Year 6, Dunwich State School offers the opportunity to work within a unique island community where strong relationships with students, families and community are central to supporting student success and wellbeing.
