About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quality, Compliance and Safeguarding Officer to join Day One Early Learning Centres on a full-time basis at our Dakabin centre in Queensland, with the role aiming to expand across all 3 of our SEQ centres. This is a pivotal role, reporting directly to the Approved Provider, that will be instrumental in maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance and safeguarding across our organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring all centre operations align with regulatory requirements, national quality standards and best practice in child protection. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the safety and development of the children in our care, while supporting our team to deliver excellence in early childhood education.

Reporting to the Approved Provider, you will be the primary point of contact for all child protection and safeguarding matters. You will ensure our service receives clear direction to remain fully compliant with national regulations and best practice frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Policy & Procedure: Review, and implement child safety policies in line with current child protection legislation.

• Training: Lead child protection training and inductions for all new staff, educators, and volunteers.

• Incident Management: Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns; manage, document, and report incidents in strict confidentiality.

• Risk Management: Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments across our childcare environments.

• Advocacy: Foster a culture of safety, empowering children to speak up and ensuring families are informed and engaged.

• Manage safeguarding protocols and child protection procedures, ensuring all staff understand and consistently implement policies to keep children safe

• Investigate concerns, incidents and complaints relating to child safety, wellbeing and quality of care, with appropriate follow-up and documentation

• Coordinate with regulatory bodies, including the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), managing inspection preparations and responding to regulatory communications

• Provide training, guidance and support to centre staff on compliance, safeguarding, child protection and quality standards

• Maintain detailed records and documentation systems to evidence compliance and support continuous quality improvement

• Review and update policies and procedures regularly to reflect best practice and legislative changes

• Liaise with families, educators and external stakeholders regarding quality and safeguarding matters as required

• Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making to enhance service quality and safety outcomes

To Be Successful, You Will Need:

• Demonstrated experience in child safeguarding, compliance and quality management in the childcare environment either in a centre-based or regulatory role.

• A solid working knowledge of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and state-specific child safety legislation.

• Valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

• Exceptional communication, documentation, and crisis management skills.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood Education

• Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Standards, Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations

• Sound understanding of child safeguarding, child protection and mandatory reporting obligations

• Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety principles as they apply to early childhood services

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Proficiency in written and verbal communication, with the ability to clearly explain complex compliance and quality concepts to diverse audiences

• Demonstrated ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with centre leadership and staff

• High level of integrity, discretion and commitment to child safeguarding as a core value

• Experience with quality management systems, data collection and analysis is highly valued

• A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and supporting early childhood educators
