Tara Anglican School for Girls is seeking an experienced and proactive Policy, Risk and Compliance Officer to play a critical role in supporting the School’s governance, risk management and compliance obligations.

This is a key position within the School, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Head of People and Culture to embed strong frameworks, promote a culture of safety and compliance, and ensure the School meets its regulatory and strategic requirements.

About the Role

The Policy, Risk and Compliance Officer is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the School’s risk, compliance and Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) frameworks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development, implementation and review of risk management frameworks, policies and procedures

  • Maintaining and monitoring the School’s risk registers and supporting risk mitigation strategies

  • Providing expert advice to leadership on risk, compliance and regulatory obligations

  • Managing and coordinating all WHS activities, including incident management, training and emergency planning

  • Conducting risk assessments for school activities, events and excursions

  • Overseeing accreditation and regulatory requirements (including NESA and other relevant bodies)

  • Drafting and reviewing policies to ensure alignment with legislation and best practice

  • Delivering training to build staff capability in risk awareness and compliance

  • Supporting audits, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives across the School

About You

You are a detail-oriented and solutions-focused professional with strong experience in policy, risk and compliance (governance).

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, compliance or governance within a complex environment

  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to apply these in practice

  • Proven experience in Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), including risk assessments and training delivery

  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including policy writing and reporting

  • The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels

  • A high level of integrity, professionalism and discretion

Experience within an education environment and familiarity with school regulatory requirements will be highly regarded.
