About the Position
As the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Education, your primary purpose is to build the early childhood teaching profile within the Faculty of Arts & Society. The role is central to the ongoing development and delivery of teaching and learning units related to early childhood education to which you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating high-quality teaching and learning across on-campus and flexible delivery modes. It also involves engaging in scholarly and research activity that informs and enhances teaching practice in diverse educational settings.

The successful candidate will bring the vision, expertise, and commitment to strengthen educational outcomes across the Northern Territory and to contribute meaningfully to national and international education contexts.

About You
To be successful, you will require the following:
Key Selection Criteria – Level B

  • PhD or substantial progress towards a PhD in a relevant field, and/or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver high-quality teaching in early childhood, underpinned by contemporary pedagogical approaches and curriculum knowledge.
  • An emerging research profile demonstrated through publications, research projects, or clear progress towards a research plan.
  • Experience in preparing preservice teachers, preferably within programs with a strong professional experience component, and the ability to effectively support teacher education students in a tertiary setting.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds, including Indigenous students and communities, and to work collaboratively with academic and professional staff.
  • Demonstrated understanding of university learning environments and equity programs, and the ability to provide inclusive and supportive education for students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and age backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of units, courses, and student learning resources through reflective practice and scholarly approaches to teaching, both online and face-to-face.

Key Selection Criteria – Level C
In addition to the Key Selection Criteria of Level B:

  • Proven experience leading a team of academics in developing and managing preservice teacher education courses; either a single large course or a number of smaller courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to CDU’s core business, including by provision of educational and administrative leadership through a relevant contribution to activities in the Faculty.
  • Demonstrated ability to play a major role or provide a significant degree of leadership in scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession, discipline and/or community that are grounded in at least one discipline area.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and supervise postgraduate students to a timely completion.
  • Demonstrated ability or capacity to teach into more than one teaching area across initial teacher education courses.
  • Established or emerging research agenda that aligns with Faculty and  University priorities, showing capacity to lead projects, attract external funding, and produce high-quality research outputs in reputable outlets.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and engagement with industry, schools, or community partners to enhance the relevance and impact of teaching and research.

Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory National Criminal History check and a valid NT Working with Children clearance

Remuneration 
Appointment to this role will be at HE Academic Level B or C. The base salary will be in the range of $116,429 - $162,146 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $136,221 - $189,710 per annum, inclusive of 17% superannuation.
