ENGINEERING TEACHER

Full-time position commencing Term 3.

We are currently seeking an engaging and experienced Engineering Teacher to join our secondary teaching team. Experience in teaching Stage 6 Engineering Studies is essential, with the capacity to contribute to STEM courses, such as Physics, Chemistry, Design and Technology and/or Mathematics, highly regarded.

New graduates and early-career teachers are warmly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate must have a commitment to academic excellence and be able to demonstrate their capacity to deliver rigorous, practical and engaging learning experiences that develop student curiosity, problem-solving and technical understanding.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

·      Teaching Stage 6 Engineering Studies and related STEM classes, as applicable.

·      Contributing to the School’s Academic Program through:

  • curriculum development, planning and continuous improvement

  • assessment design, moderation and reporting processes

  • promoting and implementing evidence-based teaching practices

  • maintaining safe, compliant and well-organised practical learning environments

  • supporting co-curricular STEM and practical learning opportunities

·      Fulfilling pastoral role of Tutor within our house-based pastoral system.

·      Contributing to and supporting the strategic development of STEM education.

This position reports to the relevant Head of Department and ultimately the Principal.

 

Applicants should possess the following:

·          Outstanding background as a teacher of Engineering Studies and/or related STEM subjects.

·          Demonstrated capacity to deliver rigorous and engaging senior Engineering Studies programs.

·          Commitment to implementation of evidence-based and data-informed teaching practices.

·          Strong understanding of practical learning, risk management and safe workshop/classroom practice.

·          A strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.

·          Willingness to contribute to pastoral and co-curricular programs.

·          Accredited four years of study at a recognised university or higher education institution in relevant subject/s with a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), or a combined or double degree such as a Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) OR

·          Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, followed by an accredited graduate entry teaching degree such as a Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) or Master of Teaching (Secondary).

·          Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality at the level required of all school staff.
