We pride ourselves on our innovative approaches to education, our dedicated workforce and our unwavering commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

The opportunity

We are seeking a Permanent Classroom Teacher to join our primary education team at our Forestville NSW campus. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of autistic students in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. As a Permanent Classroom Teacher, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality, personalised education that meets the individual needs of our students. This role is central to our mission of providing exceptional educational outcomes and fostering a culture of acceptance and understanding. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including support staff, therapists and parents, to create an environment where every student can flourish.

Key responsibilities

  1. Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and abilities of autistic primary students

  2. Implement individualised learning programs based on each student's strengths, interests and developmental stage

  3. Create and maintain a safe, structured and inclusive classroom environment that supports positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  4. Assess student progress regularly using a range of assessment tools and strategies, and maintain detailed records of achievement

  5. Collaborate with support staff, specialists and allied health professionals to develop and implement comprehensive educational and therapeutic strategies

  6. Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress, challenges and achievements

  7. Participate actively in professional development opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

  8. Integrate evidence-based teaching practices and autism-specific pedagogies into daily classroom instruction

  9. Support students in developing social, emotional and life skills alongside academic learning

  10. Maintain compliance with relevant education policies, safeguarding procedures and duty of care requirements

What we're looking for

  1. Current NSW Department of Education teacher accreditation or valid teaching qualification recognised by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)

  2. Demonstrated experience teaching in primary education settings, ideally with experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorder or other neurodevelopmental differences

  3. Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction and ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs

  4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues

  5. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education and the ability to foster an accepting, supportive classroom culture

  6. Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

  7. Solid understanding of child safeguarding, duty of care and relevant education legislation

  8. Ability to manage behaviour positively and support students' emotional regulation needs

  9. Proficiency in using digital tools and learning management systems

  10. Passion for supporting autistic learners and understanding of neurodiversity principles

  11. Preferred: Experience or qualification in autism education, or training in autism-specific pedagogies such as TEACCH or similar evidence-based approaches

  1. Competitive salary in line with NSW Department of Education pay scales

  2. Permanent full-time employment offering job security and stability

  3. Comprehensive professional development and training opportunities, including autism-specific professional learning

  4. Access to employee assistance programs and mental health support services

  5. Flexible working arrangements where possible to support work-life balance

  6. Collaborative and supportive team environment with access to experienced colleagues

  7. Opportunities for career progression and leadership development

  8. Inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and prioritises employee wellbeing
