Sunshine Coast Grammar School is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Primary Japanese Teacher to join our vibrant learning community for Semester 2, 2026.

This is a 0.4 FTE contract position, teaching Japanese to students in Years 4–6, working Monday to Wednesday from 11:00am – 3:05pm.

The successful applicant will play an important role in fostering students' language development and intercultural understanding while contributing to the continuity of the School's Prep–12 Japanese program.

About the Role

The Primary Japanese Teacher will:

  • Deliver engaging and age-appropriate Japanese language lessons to students in Years 4–6.

  • Develop students' understanding of Japanese language and culture.

  • Plan, assess and report on student learning in accordance with the Australian Curriculum.

  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Japanese to support a coherent Prep–12 Japanese program.

  • Create positive and inclusive learning environments that promote student engagement and success.

  • Communicate effectively with students, families and colleagues.

  • Participate in professional learning and contribute to the broader life of the School.

About You

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • A passion for teaching Japanese language and culture.

  • Experience teaching Japanese in a Primary School setting.

  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.

  • A commitment to evidence-informed teaching and student-centred learning.

  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider Languages team.

  • Current Queensland teacher registration (or eligibility for registration).
