Mt Hira College is a growing independent, co-educational Islamic College located in the South-Eastern suburb of Keysborough. The College is an ELC to Year 12 school, which caters for students from diverse backgrounds. Recruiting Religious Education (Islamic Studies) Teacher (Foundation–Year 12):

The successful candidate will commence as soon as possible.  Appropriate reference and background checks will be undertaken for shortlisted applicants.

The applicant must be enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and demonstrate a genuine care for students. The successful applicant will possess the relevant qualifications for the position and must have VIT registration upon commencement. 

All members of staff at the College are expected to be competent in the use of technology in the classroom, active in the pastoral management of students, supportive of the College's ethos and able to contribute to the sporting and wider co-curricular program.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications and Training

  • Relevant tertiary degree and teaching qualifications

  • Hold and maintain VIT registration

  • Previous teaching experience in Islamic classes (Preferred)

  • Candidate must be confident in delivering the Islamic Studies curriculum and planning lessons that engage and extend.

  • Have content knowledge and effective pedagogical practice.

  • A familiarity with current assessment practices.

  • Demonstrate excellent written and spoken English Skills.

  • Demonstrated capacity in effective classroom management.

  • An active interest in and commitment to the education of all students.

  • Capacity and willingness to differentiate instructional material and approaches for mixed ability classes.

  • Assist with the development and sharing of teaching materials.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with all staff.

  • Participate in the College’s co-curricular activities.

  • Be supportive of the College Mission and Ethos.

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident only.
