Position Overview

At Tamworth Montessori Preschool, we believe every child has the right to feel safe, secure, respected, and supported to thrive. You will play a pivotal role in creating a nurturing, engaging, and child-safe learning environment for children aged 3-5 Years.


This position requires a passionate, educator who supports team collaboration, and upholds the highest standards of child safety, wellbeing, and professional practice in line with the Montessori Early Learning Program (MEYLP), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Standards (NQS), and Child Safe Standards.

Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year experience in early childhood education.


Key Responsibilities

Educational Practice & Support

· Support the planning and implementation of high-quality, play-based learning experiences aligned with the Montessori Early Learning Program (MEYLP) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

· Observe children's interests, strengths, and development, and contribute to documentation and reflections under the guidance of the Teaching Director.

· Use observations to support intentional teaching and responsive interactions with children.

· Assist with daily routines and transitions to promote children's sense of security, wellbeing, and belonging.

· Support inclusive practices that recognise and respect the diverse needs, abilities, cultures, and backgrounds of all children.


Team Support

· Work collaboratively with the Team within the service.

· Contribute to a positive, respectful, and professional team environment.

· Follow and support the consistent implementation of service policies, procedures, and daily practices.

· Communicate effectively with colleagues and raise any concerns or observations with the Teaching Director and Preschool Manager as required


Relationships with Children & Families

· Build strong, respectful, and trusting relationships with children and their families.

· Maintain open, professional communication with families about children's learning, wellbeing, and development.

· Support families as partners in their child's early learning journey.


Child Safety & Child Protection Responsibilities

At Tamworth Montessori Preschool, child safety is our highest priority. The successful applicant is expected to:

· Uphold the service's Child Safe Commitment at all times.

· Actively promote a culture where children feel safe, heard, and respected.

· Understand and comply with mandatory reporting obligations under NSW legislation.

· Identify and respond appropriately to concerns regarding child wellbeing, abuse, or neglect.

· Follow all child protection policies, procedures, and reporting processes.

· Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and model respectful behaviour at all times.

· Support other educators in understanding and implementing child-safe practices.

· Ensure daily practices, environments, and supervision strategies minimise risk and promote child safety.


Health, Safety & Compliance

· Ensure a safe, hygienic, and well-organised learning environment.

· Implement effective supervision strategies to ensure children's safety at all times.

· Comply with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.

· Maintain accurate documentation, including incident, injury, and illness records as required.

· Support compliance with NQS Quality Areas, particularly QA2 (Children's Health and Safety) and QA4 (Staffing Arrangements).


About You

We are looking for someone who is:

· Certificate III or Diploma qualified in Early Childhood Education and Care (essential)

· Passionate about children's learning, wellbeing, and development.

· Knowledge or willingness to learn about the Montessori Early Years Learning Program (MEYLP)

· Knowledgeable in the EYLF, NQS, and child development.

· Strong in communication and relationship-building skills.

· Committed to child safety, child protection, and child-safe standards.

· Holds current Child Protection Training and understands mandatory reporting requirements.

· Reliable, motivated, and committed to ongoing professional growth.
