We are seeking a Program Manager to lead the Bidwern Butj Uni; a unique partnership between Warddeken and Mimal Land Management organisations, focused on building the next generation of Indigenous land management leaders.

You will: 

🧩 Design and deliver solutions that are practical, sustainable and aligned with Bininj priorities 

📈 Provide strategic leadership, driving a long‑term vision and funded program outcomes 

🌏 Maintain strong on‑Country presence to stay grounded in community needs 

📊 Lead program operations including funding, compliance, reporting and performance 

The Organisation 

The Bidwern Butj Uni is a partnership between Warddeken Land Management Limited (Warddeken) and Mimal Land Management Aboriginal Corporation (Mimal).  The partnership is built on the vision and commitment to delivering tangible and culturally appropriate benefits to Country and to culture for the landowners and people of West and Central Arnhem Land.  

Both organisations have strong and highly valued men and women's ranger programs operating from remote homelands and communities in central and western Arnhem Land. Mimal and Warddeken provide employment for hundreds of Indigenous people who engage in vital land management programs including fire management, carbon abatement, weed and feral animal control and rock art, cultural heritage and ecological conservation and management. 

The Opportunity 

You will be responsible for driving the effectiveness, impact and long-term sustainability of the Bidwern Butj Uni program. 

What Success Looks Like 

  • A clear, funded strategic plan delivered and implemented 

  • High‑quality, culturally appropriate training pathways established 

  • Strong partnerships across communities, Boards and funders 

  • A sustainable program creating long‑term impact for ranger teams and future leaders 

The successful model will enable the Bidwern Butj Uni to chart a course that breaks free of existing barriers while remaining true to Bininj priorities.   

About You 

  • Proven ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal organisations, Elders and communities 

  • A solutions‑focused mindset with strong problem‑solving capability 

  • Strategic leadership experience translating vision into outcomes 

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills 

  • Experience managing programs, budgets and funding compliance 

  • Resilience, adaptability and confidence working in remote contexts 

Your Reward 

  • $135K – $150K + 12.5% Super 

  • 6 Weeks annual leave + salary packaging 

  • Opportunities for travel and to do work on-Country with remote communities 

  • Play a key part in implementing a unique and special initiaive
