ROLE SUMMARY

The team at MPAC is fun, flexible and committed to contributing to the continuing growth and development of the College. As a Facutly Team Leader, you will be responsible for promoting leadership, direction and accountability for the Faculty, in a context where a love of God, a love of life, a love of learning and a love for others is encouraged. You will be expected to collaboratively design and implement creative, engaging, high-quality teaching and learning programs, which meet NESA requirements and address the diverse range of student learning needs. You will provide support for teachers and uphold a holistic approach to education which promotes lives of rich character and service to others.

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher with strong leadership skills and a high degree of competence in programming, assessment, using data to inform practice and confidence in developing engaging units of work. They will be a lifelong learner, passionate about supporting others, inspired to try new approaches and demonstrate the implementation of an extensive range of teaching strategies. The Faculty Team Leader will be passionate about working closely with the teachers to improve collective practice and student outcomes within in their faculty area, as well as contributing to the growth and development of Marsden Park Anglican College. You will be an expert classroom practitioner with a passion for your craft, well respected by colleagues and confident in leading a team as well as working with the Head of Teaching and Learning and Head of Senior School. You will have innate leadership skills and will present a professional image, as well as being active in your Christian faith and church community

• A degree in Education from an approved and recognised tertiary institution

• Accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)

• Current Working with Children Check Number for paid work

• Active engagement in a Christian Church

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Faculty Leadership

• Lead regular Faculty team meetings, fostering collegial sharing of resources and improved practice

• Strategically lead the Department, ensuring high expectations for student growth and academic rigour

• Develop a culture which supports analysis, research and improved student performance

• Foster collegial discussion and a growth mindset approach to curriculum changes, research and learning opportunities, empowering teachers to flourish in their craft

• Lead evidence-based, authentic teaching and learning

• Lead the implementation of the college learning framework in the faculty • Ensure the use of canvas across the faculty

• Collaboratively review how the use of technology is being used to reimagine learning

• Undertake any other duties as directed by the Principal, or his delegate

• Organise excursions, incursions and practical experiences as relevant

• Manage the acquisition of resources, as per the school’s procurement policy

• Manage the faculty budget as required

• Support the appraisal and professional development of staff in the Faculty

• Attend meetings as required

Programming

• Co-ordinate the collaborative programming for all subject areas within the Faculty

• Identify and allocate programming responsibilities to team members

• Ensure programs and scope and sequences comply with NESA standards and requirements

• Ensure programs encompass differentiation to cater for the diverse needs of the student body, providing rich learning opportunities

Assessment and Data

• Lead the use of data to inform planning and set goals for student learning growth

• Oversee a program of assessment and benchmarking using standardised reference and work samples

• Monitor the progression of students within the Faculty and in terms of benchmark testing

• Ensure school-based assessments foster higher order thinking and provide challenge for all students

• Collaboratively review and adjust teaching programs in response to assessment data and engage with the Individualised Learning team to access additional intervention where appropriate

• Use Edumate to provide live feedback for student learning and achievement

Teaching

• Carry a teaching load as determined by the Principal or his delegate

• Arrange team teaching opportunities to increase collective professional capital

• Model and observe lessons and team teach with staff upon request

• Provide feedback, guidance and affirmation to teaching team

Professional Learning

• Demonstrate ongoing practice that meets the Australian Professional Standards of Leaders

• Engage in professional learning to update knowledge and practice

• Model the language and habits associated with a Universal Design for Learning within regular classroom practice, establishing high expectations and empowering students to develop as powerful learners

• Assist with the leadership of professional learning opportunities as relevant

• Build a professional learning culture amongst the Faculty team, assisting teachers to keep abreast of current research and teaching strategies
