About the Role

The Social Worker/Wellbeing Practitioner plays a key role in promoting student wellbeing through preventative, classroom-based and targeted support services.

Working collaboratively with school leadership, teachers, families and external agencies, the successful applicant will contribute to a safe, connected and emotionally supportive learning environment.

The role includes:

• Supporting the implementation of the Highway Heroes Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Program across Kindergarten to Year 6.

• Providing classroom-based support to reinforce emotional regulation, resilience, social skills and positive behaviour.

• Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement strategies that support student wellbeing and engagement.

• Delivering targeted short-term interventions for students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural or wellbeing challenges.

• Conducting classroom observations and contributing to student support planning.

• Developing practical wellbeing resources for teachers, parents and students.

• Planning and facilitating parent education workshops and information sessions.

• Supporting families to access appropriate community and external support services.

• Participating in case management meetings and multidisciplinary collaboration.

• Assisting with student transitions and playground support where required.

• Supporting the school's response to critical incidents and wellbeing concerns.

• Maintaining professional documentation and case notes in accordance with school policies and professional standards.

Desired Knowledge and Experience

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

• A strong commitment to child wellbeing and early intervention.

• Experience supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural needs.

• Experience working collaboratively within a school or educational setting (highly desirable).

• Knowledge of social-emotional learning programs and wellbeing frameworks.

• Experience developing practical resources and supports for teachers and families.

• Experience facilitating parent workshops, professional learning or community education sessions.

• Strong communication, relationship-building and consultation skills.

• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.

• Strong organisational and case management skills.

• Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Experience implementing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs.

• Experience with Highway Heroes, Friendly Schools, Zones of Regulation, Be You or similar wellbeing frameworks.

• Gatekeeper Training or equivalent suicide prevention and mental health training.

• Experience working with primary-aged children and families.

• Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice.

• Experience delivering parent education workshops and group programs.

Employment Details

• Part-time position.
• Preferred working pattern:

• Two days per week, scheduled between Tuesday and Friday, with at least one working day occurring on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday

• Hours: 8:15am – 4:15pm.

• Remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience.
