The Opportunity

Reporting to the Provost, the Academic Integrity, AI and Learning Support Officer strengthens the systems, practices and student-facing supports that underpin credible learning, academic integrity and student success.

The role conducts and coordinates academic integrity investigations, including AI-related and similarity concerns, prepares evidence briefs, maintains case records and supports delegated academic decision-makers. It also provides learning support and case management, responds to student learning enquiries, assists students to access appropriate support pathways, and contributes to the practical implementation of approved academic adjustments or access arrangements.

The role also supports the central administration of special consideration and extension processes, including application checks, records, follow-up, communications, reporting and implementation support in accordance with approved policy and delegation arrangements.

Alongside these functions, the role leads practical responsible AI implementation for staff and students by developing guidance, training, resources, scenarios and advice that support ethical learning, assessment integrity and responsible use of AI.

What you will do:

You will:

• conduct and coordinate academic integrity investigations, including AI-related concerns, similarity issues and other suspected breaches

• gather, organise and maintain evidence in a neutral, procedurally fair and records-compliant manner

• prepare academic integrity briefs and case materials for delegated academic decision-makers

• maintain academic integrity registers, workflow standards, case categories, status definitions and reporting fields

• track academic integrity outcomes, recurring themes, aged matters and escalation risks

• provide learning support and case management for students within the approved scope of the role

• respond to student learning enquiries and provide practical academic guidance, including referral to unit coordinators, academic staff or professional support services where required

• support students with academic writing, referencing, paraphrasing, evidence use, assessment readiness and responsible AI use

• assist with the practical implementation of approved Academic Adjustment Plans, access plans or equivalent arrangements

• support the central special consideration and extension workflow, including application receipt, completeness checks, records, follow-up, communication and reporting

• liaise with academic and professional staff about assessment timing, feasibility, grade release, placement implications and operational implementation where relevant

• identify recurring issues in assessment communication, policy, Canvas, accessibility, learning support or AI-related processes

• develop responsible AI guidance, student resources, staff guides, workshops, FAQs, scenarios and communication templates

• advise staff and students on responsible AI use in learning and assessment within approved ISN rules

• maintain an AI risk and implementation log covering misuse themes, training needs, support gaps and escalation issues

• work with the Learning Technologist, academic leaders and student support staff to implement learning innovation and AI-enabled learning resources

• contribute to assurance of learning, academic quality and assessment integrity improvement activities.

What we are looking for:

This is a broad academic quality and student support role. It will suit a higher education professional who can manage sensitive academic integrity matters with procedural fairness, provide practical learning support to students, contribute to special consideration and extension workflows, and help staff and students use artificial intelligence responsibly in learning and assessment.

You will bring:

• relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in higher education, academic integrity, learning support, learning and teaching, educational technology, educational design, psychology education, policy, governance or a related field

• demonstrated experience in academic integrity, student conduct, investigations, evidence handling, procedural fairness or case management

• experience providing student learning support, academic skills guidance, study support or referral-based student assistance

• understanding of special consideration, extensions, academic adjustments, access arrangements or comparable student support processes

• strong artificial intelligence literacy, including generative AI use in education, responsible AI guidance, assessment integrity risks and student capability building

• the ability to design student resources, staff guidance, templates, case workflows, training materials and reporting tools

• strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear evidence briefs, student communications and governance-ready reports

• sound judgement, confidentiality and professional boundaries when handling sensitive student, academic, conduct or support information

• the ability to work constructively with academic staff, student support staff, learning technology staff and governance stakeholders.

Experience with academic integrity systems, Turnitin, Canvas, Microsoft 365, learning analytics, approved AI tools, psychology education, health education, WIL, clinical education or APAC-accredited environments will be well regarded.

AI is reshaping psychology practice, research and the academy. ISN Psychology expects academic staff to engage with AI thoughtfully, transparently and critically in teaching, research, assessment and administration. Staff are expected to understand AI limitations, academic integrity risks, research integrity considerations, privacy obligations and the importance of human academic and professional judgement.

Location and employment

• The role is based in Kew, Victoria, with some travel to other ISN Melbourne locations as required

• Full-time 1.0 FTE

• HEW 5 under the Higher Education Industry – General Staff - Award 2020, subject to contract and classification confirmation.

• Appointment is subject to satisfactory working rights, Working with Children Check and National Police Record Check.
