Task & responsibilities

Educational Program & Practice

• Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a high-quality, child-centered educational program aligned to the EYLF outcomes and principles.
• Maintain a robust cycle of observation, assessment, planning, and reflection; ensure documentation meets regulatory and service standards.
• Embed inclusive practices and cultural responsiveness, including the perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
• Promote children’s agency, safety, wellbeing, and learning dispositions through intentional teaching and responsive interactions.

Room Operations & Compliance

• Ensure daily room operations meet the National Law & Regulations, NQS, service policies, and WHS requirements.
• Maintain accurate records (attendance, incidents/illness, medication, risk assessments, cleaning/maintenance checks).
• Support readiness for Assessment & Rating and contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).

Leadership & Team Collaboration

• Lead and mentor educators within the room; model reflective practice and professional standards.
• Coordinate rosters, routines, transitions, and environments to meet regulatory ratios and best practice.
• Collaborate with the Educational Leader and Centre Manager to align pedagogy and practice across the service.

Family & Community Engagement

• Build positive relationships with families; communicate program goals, children’s progress, and room updates professionally and promptly.
• Manage feedback and grievances respectfully; contribute to community partnerships and centre events.
• Ocean Shores, NSW based; occasional after-hours PD/meetings may be required.

Qualification & experience

Mandatory Qualifications & Certifications (NSW)

• Minimum ACEQCA-approved Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care 
• Current NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC).
• HLTAID012 – First Aid in an Education and Care Setting, including anaphylaxis and asthma training, or ACECQA approved equivalent.
• Child Protection training meeting NSW requirements (e.g., CHCPRT025 or approved equivalent).
• Food Safety awareness (if applicable) and knowledge of infection control practices.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in early childhood settings 
• Strong knowledge of the NQF, NQS, EYLF, and NSW regulatory obligations.
• Proven capability in documentation, observations, planning cycles, and reflective practice.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to set up engaging, safe environments and manage routines that support children’s learning and wellbeing.
• Competence with digital platforms for programming, compliance, and family communication.
