LabourLens is recruiting on behalf of Little Saplings EEC Armidale Pty Ltd t/a Little Saplings Early Education Centre for a caring and enthusiastic Educator to join its early childhood education team in Armidale, NSW. This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 38 hours per week.

The successful applicant will provide attentive care and supervision, support children’s daily routines and contribute to engaging learning experiences, with an initial focus on the toddler room. Working alongside the Lead Educator, Early Childhood Teachers and other team members, you will help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment that supports children’s wellbeing, confidence and development.

Task & responsibilities

• Provide daily care and active supervision to keep children safe during indoor and outdoor play, meals, rest periods and transitions.
• Assist with preparing learning materials, toys and equipment suited to children’s ages, interests and developmental needs.
• Support the planning and delivery of play-based activities under the guidance of the Lead Educator and Early Childhood Teachers.
• Engage children through storytelling, songs, games, art, sensory play and imaginative activities.
• Encourage children’s language, movement, social skills and independence through everyday interactions and play.
• Guide children’s behaviour positively, helping them learn to share, cooperate, express feelings and build respectful relationships.
• Assist children with meals, dressing, toileting, nappy changes and handwashing, encouraging appropriate self-care skills.
• Support individual sleep and rest routines and maintain supervision in accordance with centre procedures.
• Observe children’s interests, participation and development, and record information to contribute to learning documentation and future activities.
• Monitor children’s wellbeing and promptly report illness, injury, distress or developmental concerns to the appropriate senior staff member.
• Communicate respectfully with families about children’s daily routines, experiences and wellbeing while maintaining confidentiality.
• Maintain clean, organised and safe play areas, equipment and care spaces, following hygiene and infection-control procedures.
• Follow child protection, emergency and workplace safety procedures and complete required records accurately.
• Participate in team meetings and reflective discussions to support consistent care and improvements to daily practice.

Qualification & experience

• An ACECQA-approved Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an equivalent approved qualification.
• Relevant 1 year of practical experience working with young children in an early childhood education and care setting.
• Experience supporting toddlers’ daily routines, learning, behaviour and personal care is desirable.
• Understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standard.
• Ability to contribute to play-based learning activities and document children’s experiences and development.
• A current NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment.
• Current first aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training appropriate to an early childhood setting.
• Knowledge of child protection, safe supervision, hygiene and children’s wellbeing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
• Ability to work collaboratively and follow the guidance of the Lead Educator and teaching team.
