Task & responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up and maintaining learning environments, ensuring Montessori and EYLF principles are embedded in daily routines.
  • Prepare, implement, and actively participate in play-based learning experiences that foster curiosity, independence, and problem-solving skills.
  • Supervise children at all times to ensure safety, including during indoor play, outdoor activities, mealtimes, rest periods, and transitions.
  • Provide positive guidance and support to encourage children’s social and emotional development, helping them build confidence and interpersonal skills.
  • Support children with personal care needs such as eating, toileting, and dressing, while promoting independence and healthy habits.
  • Monitor children’s wellbeing, progress, and behaviours, documenting observations and sharing insights with educators, room leaders, and families.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised learning environment in line with health and safety regulations, centre policies, and WHS standards.
  • Build collaborative relationships with families by communicating respectfully and professionally about their child’s experiences and achievements.
  • Contribute to the planning and evaluation of educational programs in consultation with educators, ensuring compliance with NQS and service policies.

Qualification & experience

  • Minimum Diploma level of qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent qualification is required.
  • At least 2-3 year of relevant, full-time experience in an early childhood education and care setting.
  • Current Working with Children Check (NSW) and First Aid/CPR is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EYLF & NQS; ability to implement Montessori-inspired, child-centred practice.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and documentation skills.
