LZ 21 Pty Ltd T/A Little Leo’s is seeking a qualified and experienced Early Childhood Teacher to join its team at the Killara Early Learning Centre.

The Early Childhood Teacher will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating high-quality educational programs that support children’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development. Working closely with the Nominated Supervisor, Educational Leader, educators and families, the successful candidate will create inclusive and engaging learning environments while ensuring educational practices are consistent with the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standard and relevant regulatory requirements.

Task & responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement and evaluate educational programs and learning experiences appropriate to children’s individual interests, abilities and developmental needs.
• Apply the Early Years Learning Framework in curriculum planning, observations, documentation and evaluation of children’s learning.
• Observe and assess children’s development and maintain accurate developmental records, learning observations and educational documentation.
• Plan and structure engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments using appropriate resources, materials and activities.
• Provide learning experiences that promote children’s language, literacy, numeracy, motor, social, emotional and cognitive development.
• Provide appropriate supervision and support the health, safety and wellbeing of children at all times.
• Build positive and respectful relationships with children and promote inclusion regardless of cultural background, ability or individual circumstances.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding their child’s learning, development, wellbeing and participation in the educational program.
• Encourage family involvement in learning experiences and service activities and support partnerships between families and the centre.
• Work collaboratively with the Educational Leader and other educators to review and continuously improve educational programs and practices.
• Guide and support room educators in observing children, implementing educational programs and maintaining appropriate learning environments.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of learning experiences and make adjustments according to children’s development, interests and emerging needs.
• Support the implementation of the service’s Quality Improvement Plan and National Quality Standard requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant child protection, workplace health and safety and education and care regulatory requirements.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development and reflective practice activities.
• Identify and appropriately report any matters that may affect children’s health, safety or wellbeing to the Nominated Supervisor.

Qualification & experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or another recognised qualification suitable for appointment as an Early Childhood Teacher.
• 1–2 years of relevant early childhood education experience preferred.
• Sound knowledge and practical understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework.
• Strong understanding of the National Quality Standard and relevant education and care requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate early childhood educational programs.
• Experience observing, assessing and documenting children’s learning and development.
• Strong understanding of child development, including physical, emotional, cognitive, social and cultural development.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with children, families and colleagues.
• Ability to guide and support educators in delivering high-quality educational programs.
• Current Working with Children Check and relevant First Aid qualifications as required for the position.
