The Child Care Group Leader (Diploma Qualified) is responsible for leading an assigned room and delivering high-quality educational programs that support the developmental needs of children. The role oversees room operations, curriculum planning, safety compliance, team leadership, and communication with families. The Group Leader ensures that learning environments remain safe, engaging, and consistent with EYLF, NQF, and National Regulations.

Task & responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate educational programs aligned with EYLF and NQF.
• Lead, supervise, mentor, and support educators within the assigned room to maintain high-quality teaching practices.
• Observe, monitor, assess, and document children’s learning and development.
• Maintain a safe, hygienic, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law & Regulations.
• Build positive, professional relationships with families and communicate regularly regarding children’s progress and wellbeing.
• Contribute to and support the centre’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
• Maintain accurate administrative, program, and compliance records.
• Participate in community events and contribute to the centre’s positive public reputation.

Qualification & experience

• A Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or an ACECQA-approved equivalent).
• Prior experience in a Group Leader, Room Leader, or equivalent leadership role in early childhood settings.
• Knowledge and understanding of EYLF, NQF, and the National Law & Regulations.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills.
• A valid Working with Vulnerable People/Working with Children Check.
