The Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified and committed Child Care Worker (ANZSCO 421111) to join our team. The successful applicant will provide quality care and educational support to children while helping maintain a safe, welcoming and developmentally appropriate environment.

You will be required to:

Provide quality care and supervision to children across GFSA’s centre-based and mobile childcare programs. Support daily routines, learning and recreational activities while maintaining a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment for children throughout the regional communities we service.

Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive care and active supervision for children participating in the Association’s centre-based and mobile occasional-care programs. 
  • Assist with preparing age-appropriate materials and equipment for children’s educational, play-based and recreational activities. 
  • Prepare and conduct indoor and outdoor activities that support children’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive development. 
  • Supervise children’s daily routines, including meals, rest periods, toileting, personal hygiene and transitions between activities. 
  • Use positive behaviour-guidance strategies to support children’s social development, confidence and interactions with others. 
  • Develop and implement a high quality education and care curriculum for all enrolled children that is consistent with: * The service philosophy and policies, * The National Quality Standards, * Educations and Care Services National Law, * Education and Care Services National Regulations, * Early Years Learning Framework  
  • Observe children’s wellbeing, development and participation, and maintain accurate records in accordance with service procedures. 
  • Establish respectful relationships with children and communicate appropriately with parents, carers, educators and other team members. 
  • Maintain clean, safe and well-organised learning environments, including setting up and packing away equipment at centre and mobile-service locations. 
  • Support the inclusion of children from diverse cultural backgrounds and children with additional needs. 
  • Follow child-safety requirements, supervision ratios, hygiene procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and the Association’s policies. 
  • Work with the team within the Service to develop, deliver and monitor quality curriculum consistent with the requirements of the National Quality Framework. 
  • Assist with mobile service delivery across regional communities, including Gnowangerup, Borden, Ongerup, Nyabing and Newdegate, where required.

Qualification & experience

Essential

  • QF Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care with at least two years of leadership position, or an AQF Certificate IV or higher relevant qualification.
  • Relevant experience providing care and supervision to children in a childcare setting. 
  • Current Working with Children Check and approved First Aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training, or ability to obtain. 
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to mobile childcare locations when required.
