We are seeking a dedicated Child Care Worker/Early Childhood Worker to join our team of passionate educators.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Child Care Worker will work as part of our educator team to:

  • Assist in setting up, maintaining and packing away learning environments, equipment and materials for children’s daily educational and recreational experiences.
  • Support and guide children’s behaviour and social development by modelling positive interactions, reinforcing appropriate behaviour and helping children build respectful relationships with peers and adults.
  • Help plan and deliver age-appropriate, play-based activities that promote children’s curiosity, creativity and overall development.
  • Engage and interact with children through stories, songs, games and other experiences that encourage language, imagination and a love of learning.
  • Provide active supervision of children at all times, indoors and outdoors, ensuring their safety and wellbeing during both structured and unstructured activities.
  • Support children’s daily routines, including arrival and departure, rest and sleep times, mealtimes, transitions between activities and group times.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health and hygiene for children, including assisting with toileting, nappy changing, handwashing and general cleanliness of the room and equipment.

The successful applicant will also be expected to:

  • Work in partnership with families and colleagues to support each child’s individual needs, consistent with the EYLF and the centre’s philosophy. 
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive and respectful team culture.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum qualification AQF Certificate IV in relevant field (early childhood education/Early Childhood Education and Care), or AQF Certificate III in relevant field, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or 3 Years of relevant work experience to substitute the minimum qualifications.
  • Minimum 1 year work experience working with children from birth to 5 years in a long day care or similar early childhood setting.
  • Understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Framework (NQF).
  • Demonstrated ability to build warm, responsive relationships with children and families.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Current Working with Children Check (VIC) and any other required registrations or clearances.

Desirable:

  • First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management certificates (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience working in multi-age rooms (e.g. infants, toddlers and kindergarten rooms). 

Salary

  • Salary range: $73,000- $77,000 per annum plus superannuation
