The Child Care Worker is responsible for assisting in the provision of high-quality care and education for children within Greenspace Childcare's framework and in accordance with the National Quality Framework (NQF) and relevant legislation. This role involves actively contributing to the development and implementation of engaging programs, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

Duties 

  • Supervise and actively engage with children in various activities, including indoor and outdoor play, creative arts, music, movement, and rest periods.
  • Assist children with their personal care needs, such as toileting, hygiene, dressing, and feeding, with sensitivity and respect.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, identifying and addressing potential hazards promptly.
  • Implement positive behaviour guidance techniques to support children's social and emotional development.
  • Observe children's development and learning, contributing to the planning and implementation of individual and group activities.
  • Follow established routines and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the daily program.
  • Administer first aid as required, following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, ensuring dietary requirements and allergies are adhered to.
  • Assist in setting up and packing away activity materials and equipment.
  • Accompany children on excursions and outings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of age-appropriate and engaging educational programs based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources.
  • Document observations of children's learning and development.
  • Liaise with other professionals and support services as required.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritise the safety, health, and well-being of all children at all times.
  • Adhere to Greenspace Childcare's policies and procedures related to child protection and safety.
  • Report any concerns regarding a child's safety or well-being to the Centre Director or Nominated Supervisor immediately.
  • Understand and comply with the National Quality Framework (NQF) and Education and Care Services National Regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and the service.
  • Actively participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure the effective delivery of the program.
  • Support and mentor other team members as required.
  • Contribute positively to the centre's culture and environment.
  • Respect the confidentiality and privacy of children and families, following relevant legislative and policy guidelines.

Qualification & Experience
  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent)
  • Current First Aid Certificate, including CPR.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in a childcare or early childhood education setting, providing supervision, care, and educational support to children.
  • Genuine passion for working with young children and a strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage children's behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
