Task & responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate educational programs in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Framework (NQF).
  • Create engaging learning experiences that support children's cognitive, language, physical, social and emotional development.
  • Observe, assess and document children's learning and development, using observations to inform future curriculum planning and individual learning goals.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, learn and develop confidence through play-based learning.
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues, and communicate regularly with families regarding their child's learning and development.
  • Work collaboratively with educators to implement high-quality educational programs and provide guidance and support where appropriate.
  • Support the inclusion of children with diverse learning needs, cultural backgrounds and abilities by adapting learning experiences to meet individual needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with Centre policies, regulatory requirements and the National Quality Standard.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) goals, critical reflection and professional development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, Child Protection requirements, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) obligations, and all Centre policies and procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional discussions and Centre events, contributing positively to a collaborative and professional team environment.
  • Promote children's wellbeing, independence and positive behaviour through intentional teaching strategies and responsive interactions.

Qualification & experience

Cooma School for Early Learning is committed to providing a child-safe environment where children’s wellbeing and safety are prioritised in everyday practice. All applicants will undergo appropriate screening and background checks relevant to working with children. This includes verification of Working with Children Checks, qualifications and reference checks. We are committed to recruiting educators who actively support and promote child-safe practices and values.

Applicants should possess:

  • A relevant Bachelor qualification in Early Childhood Education 
  • At least one year of relevant post-qualification work experience preferred.
  • A current Working With Children Check (or the ability to obtain one before commencement).
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications (or the ability to obtain them prior to commencement).
