Position Overview
The Early Childhood (Pre-primary School) Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for young children in accordance with the approved learning frameworks and relevant Australian standards. The successful candidate will create engaging learning experiences that promote children's development, wellbeing, and readiness for school.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering developmentally appropriate educational programs for children in pre-primary and early childhood settings.
- Designing and implementing learning activities aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework 2.0(EYLF) and relevant state or territory curriculum requirements.
- Assessing and documenting children's learning, development, and progress through observations, portfolios, and reports.
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
- Encouraging children's creativity, curiosity, problem-solving skills, and independence through play-based learning.
- Building positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and the wider community.
- Identifying children requiring additional support and collaborating with families and specialists to develop appropriate strategies and interventions.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with all regulatory, health, safety, and child protection requirements.
- Participating in professional development activities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the centre.
- Supervising and mentoring educators and support staff where required.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or an equivalent qualification aligned with ANZSCO 241111.
- Demonstrated experience using the OWNA childcare CRM platform.
- Proven experience in service leadership, including working as an Assistant Director (2IC).
- Experience fulfilling the role of Responsible Person within a regulated childcare environment.
- Current NESA teacher accreditation or eligibility for registration with the relevant state or territory authority (where applicable).
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience in an early childhood or pre‑primary setting is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
- National Quality Framework (NQF)
- National Quality Standards (NQS)
- Child Safe Standards and child protection legislation
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Current Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one.
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certifications, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
